    Seya Shayi
    Executive Board Member, Eskom Development Foundation. Seya Shayi is a Rhodes Business School MBA student in the 2009 MBA Class. His classmates voted him as a class president in 2009. Daimler invited MBA candidates from business schools around the world to write an essay on Globally Responsible Leadership. A total 600 essays were received by Daimler. Based on the strength of the essay, Seya and 124 other candidates were chosen to join Daimler World Dialogue 2011, part of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) from the 3rd to 7th October in Stuttgart. Seya is currently employed by Eskom. He is a registered director and is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD). He is a serving board member of Eskom Development Foundation and is an Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Distribution at Eskom.

    In order to get a better appreciation of what “globally responsible leadership” means, one has to first provide some context. My starting point is that businesses are not just profit-seeking entities, but should be much deeper than that.
